Underfloor containers (UFC), such as those used by the city of Zurich in public spaces, also offer advantages for private individuals and cooperatives.

With more than 50 apartments per property, the UFC is a visually appealing and economically profitable alternative to roll containers or street collection. Tenants can dispose of waste underground, hygienically and odorlessly around the clock. A single UFC has a capacity of five cubic meters. This is roughly equivalent to six wheelie bins or the weekly amount of waste from 60 apartments. Only a fraction of the area of a single roll container is required.
