Disposal concept of the City of Zurich

Underfloor containers (UFC), as used by the City of Zurich in public spaces, offer advantages also for private individuals and cooperatives.

With more than 50 apartments per property, the UFC represents a visually appealing and economical alternative to wheeled containers or the street collection. Tenants can dispose of their waste underground, hygienically and odourlessly around the clock. A single UFC has a capacity of 5 cubic metres. This is equivalent to about six wheeled containers or the weekly waste volume of 60 apartments. Whereby only a fraction of the area of a single roller container is required.
